JM Construction is awarded the design and build contract for a new house in Newbury Park. These clients are existing clients that we built a house for in Oak Shores, Lake Nacimiento. We should be breaking ground towards the end of 2010.

JM Construction is awarded a beautification award from the City Of San Luis Obispo’s Chamber of Commerce. General Contractor = J.M. Construction, Inc. Architect = Hamrick and Associates. Property Owner = Quarterhorse Equities LLC. We remodeled the 10 apartments upstairs as well as beautifying the exterior of the building. All the work was done while the retail tenants remained open downstairs during construction.

Because of our constant desire to provide the highest quality products to our clients we found it necessary to change aluminum dock suppliers. JM Construction starts building aluminum docks. We became local dealers and distributors for a dock manufacturer located in Alabama. Due to the maintenance of wood docks and the decrease in aluminum costs we found that we could offer our clients a longer lasting dock that would save them in maintenance and replacement costs. We were also able to reduce our labor time which allowed us to build more docks.

With Mark Marshall having a degree in Civil Engineering, JM Construction is able to add the classification of A (General Engineering) to the companies California Contractors License. The first docks and marinas that JM Construction built were made out of wood with galvanized hardware. This type of dock construction was typical on Lake Nacimiento in 1995

Jim Marshall Construction starts its long lasting relationship with PL Porter Company. PL Porter manufactured all the hydraulic seat components for all the airlines as well as military jet parts. We handled all of their construction needs from office remodels, parking lot work, re-roofs on their manufacturing facilities, multi-million dollar air handling and purification system install, earthquake retrofits, additions, owners personal houses, owners personal 50 stall breading barn in Solvang, etc. This relationship lasted up until 2005 when PL Porter’s new management moved the company back east. We are proud at the long lasting relationships we develop with out clients.

Jim Marshall Construction Inc purchases a house in Woodland Hills, CA on Fallbrook Avenue and turns it into a construction office. With over 65 in-field workers, 3 project managers and 4 superintendents and an office manager Jim Marshall felt the need to open an office away from the home office. At this point Jim Marshall Construction was building an average of 16 new custom houses in Beverly Hills per year alone, multiple projects in Bel Air, Malibu, Pacific Palisades, Santa Monica, etc. Jim Marshall Construction was also remodeling doctors offices in Ceders-Sanai as well as multiple commercial projects for lawyers, doctors, automobile dealerships, fast food restaurants, etc.

Jim Marshall Construction starts working for Gary’s Tuxedo Rental in Southern California. Gary’s Tuxedo Rentals was the largest tuxedo rental company in the United States. We were building out all of their tenant improvements throughout Southern California. We built their corporate offices and continued to add on to their offices. We also built the houses for the owner of the company. This was a start of a great relationship that lasted until the owner sold the company to the Gingis Group in Chicago in 2001. The types of projects ranged from New Construction, manufacturing, tenant improvements, earthquake retrofit, repaints, security measures, etc. One of our strengths is the long lasting relationships we develop with our clients.

As the work load increases and the desire of Jim Marshall to move his family over the hill to the San Fernando Valley he breaks off from Snyder Marshall Construction and starts Jim Marshall Construction. He starts the company in his house in Canoga Park. Snyder Marshall Construction changes the name back to Snyder and Sons Construction with Mark, Don and Rob Snyder.

As a team of family members they branch out and start concentrating around Pacific Palisades. Snyder and Sons Construction becomes the premier builder in Beverly Hills, Malibu, Santa Monica, Los Angeles, Hollywood, Brentwood, etc. Averaging 100 projects per year Snyder and Sons Construction becomes a very large construction company and moves the main office to Sunset Blvd in Pacific Palisades.
